Advanced machining for metallic seal components
James Walker Moorflex has expanded its CNC machining capabilities for the manufacture of metal-to-metal seals and oilfield components.
Precise annular rings up to 2.3m OD with radial and tangential drilling, slotting and threaded parts are now produced on new CNC vertical machining and drilling facilities that augment the company's turning equipment.
Special thin wall machining skills have also been perfected. Machine tool and holding mechanisms developed by James Walker Moorflex prevent crushing and allow tight tolerances with absolute concentricity in its manufacture of annular thin walled metal parts in Incoloy 825, Inconel 600, 625 and 718.
Finishing, testing and heat treatment processes are available, and all work is undertaken in an API accredited machine shop.
Metal end cap seals
James Walker Moorflex also produces components for metal end cap seals. Machined to very close tolerances from special thin-walled billets of stainless steel 316 or Inconel 625, the components have complex profiles with special surface finishes.
These are supplied as pairs of matching rings to James Walker & Co. At Cockermouth, they are mould-bonded to elements of high performance elastomer ready for installation on wellheads for arduous oil and gas field sealing duties.
