Large mouldings throughput increased
Customers now get an improved fast-track service for large elastomeric seals from James Walker's Cockermouth plant, following the installation of a Terenzio preheater press.
This holds five sets of tools at working temperature, ready for immediate use by giant presses in the firm's large mouldings cell.
A roller conveyor links the preheater with the other presses to ensure a swift and safe swap-over of hot moulds.
"We change tools many times each day", said Omer Raoof, product stream manager for rotary seals and large mouldings.
"With five tools on hot stand-by, we reduce non-productive press time by using pre-warmed tools to give customers a faster service."
