Face mask seals minimise skin irritation
James Walker proudly beat stiff overseas competition to win the Scott Health & Safety contract for manufacturing liquid silicone face mask seals.
The existing supplier had pulled out suddenly leaving Scott without a source for the coloured silicone and thermoplastic rubber components it needed.
"The tight deadline put our process engineering skills to the test", reported James Walker Keaflex business development manager Pete Smith.
"We converted some existing plastics machinery to liquid silicone technology, and installed a new higher capacity press for thermoplastic rubber."
Injection moulding tools for the seven new components were swiftly designed and manufactured in-house.
"James Walker Keaflex did an excellent job by stepping into the breach and delivering high quality products to meet our deadlines", said David Price, purchasing manager, Scott Health & Safety.
"The full face mask is part of our modular respiratory range. The silicone seal provides a comfortable fit for the wearer and minimises the risk of skin irritation."
