Chlorosulphonated polyethylene CSM

Chlorosulphonated polyethylene (CSM)
A well known example is Hypalon® from DuPont Performance Elastomers.

Chemical properties
These materials give good service in many media including water, dilute alkalis, lower alcohols, aliphatic hydrocarbons, silicone oils and greases, vegetable oils, and mineral-based and water/glycol hydraulic fluids.

They also show excellent resistance to weathering.

Typical operating temperatures
-30°C to +120°C continuous, or +150°C intermittent.

Fluid sealing duties
Used mainly for static sealing duties. They are not recommended for dynamic applications as compression set resistance is limited.

James Walker standard grades
Supplied in hardnesses of 65-80 IRHD.
