Oil & Gas

Our expertise in fluid sealing applications and accessories covers virtually all downhole plant and equipment needed for exploration and production, both offshore and land-based.

We manufacture components for plant ranging from compressors, manifolds, pipelines and slew rings, to BOPs, actuators, safety valves, MWD tools, drill bits, filters and perforation.

Custom design and manufacture in elastomers and thermoplastics are James Walker specialities — along with high-precision machining of thin wall components and complex ring seals in exotic and standard alloys.

Our most popular products include:

● Chevron® mud pump packing (known as Shallex® in some regions): this low-friction double V-ring packing outperforms and lasts far longer than many traditional mud pump packings — especially with highly abrasive media containing solids, oils and water.

● FS Casing & Tubing Seal: moulded in exceptionally tough Elast-O-Lion® hydrogenated nitrile (HNBR) with stainless steel anti-extrusion elements, it replaces metal end cap seals and plastic pack arrangements where there are large clearances between mating surfaces.

● Solosele® G & G-AE: compact rod/gland and piston seals that save housing space without compromising sealing integrity in actuators, filters and swivels.

● ‘O’ rings: precision moulded in RGD-resistant elastomers, our ‘O’ rings are used in BOPs, MWD tools, compressors, actuators, valves, pumps, connectors, swivels and a multitude of other downhole equipment.

● Springsele®: this S-type seal, moulded in tough RGD-resistant elastomers with toroidal stainless steel anti-extrusion elements, has wide applications with compressors, directional drilling, filters, manifolds, perforation, risers, and production safety valves.

● Teesele®: similar to Springsele® but with PEEK™ or PTFE external anti-extrusion elements for dynamic duties, including BOPs, production safety valves, and sampling.

● Moorside® API ring joints: metal ring seals in a full range of sections, diameters and materials. UK-manufactured to API and ASME standards by James Walker Moorflex under its API Spec 6A-0038 and API Spec 17D certifications.

● Devlon® thermoplastics: expertly re-engineered replacements for metal components where reduced weight and/or improved corrosion resistance is essential: typically valve seats, actuators, pipe-in-pipe centralisers, riser clamps and centralisers, umbilical and piggy-back clamps, swivel components, and thermal barriers.

● RotaBolt® tension control fasteners: for actuators, BOPs, connectors, pipelines, platform modules, production safety valves, pumps, slew rings and swivels — where a precise bolt tension must be maintained and a simple checking method is required.

● Tico® Pipe Grips, Clip Strips and Mounting Pads: flexible products for vibration isolation that are widely specified on production modules to support pipework and plant where noise and vibration need to be attenuated at high or low frequencies.  
 
● Test laboratory facilities: in-house capabilities include rapid gas decompression (RGD) testing; low temperature testing; and oilfield media compatibility analysis of elastomers.
