Description
Our Lionsele® P is a compact, high performance double-acting seal for piston heads. It has been especially developed to provide optimum sealing capability in conjunction with the lowest operating and breakout friction.
The seal comprises a PTFE sleeve supported by a rectangular elastomeric energiser. This distributes an even sealing load to the PTFE (unlike similar products incorporating 'O' rings) to help minimise leakage rates.
Intimate face-to-face contact prevents the PTFE sleeve rocking or twisting in the housing. This ensures stable fluid film conditions and consistent friction values.
The sleeve is also designed to control leakage by recovering the maximum possible residual fluid film deposited on the cylinder bore. Its chamfered leading edges assist with fluid film recovery and also reduce the risk of seal damage through extrusion.
Special features
Typical applications
Any duties where instant response and low power consumption are required. It is particularly recommended for high frequency/short stroke applications where there is a high risk of unstable fluid film conditions. Examples include: hydraulic cylinders, actuators, servomechanisms, machine tools, measuring instruments, gauge control equipment and earth moving plant.
Operating capabilities
Materials of construction
Sleeve (standard material): Fluolion® CL - a filled-PTFE material offering exceptional wear and abrasion resistance.
Sleeve (special materials): alternative grades of filled-PTFE to meet specific requirements.
Rectangular energiser (standard material): medium nitrile NBR elastomer.
Rectangular energiser (special materials): alternative elastomers to meet specific requirements, including fluoroelastomer FKM for high operating temperatures.
Media capabilities
Our standard materials are suitable for use with most mineral based hydraulic fluids, most fire-resistant fluids of the water/oil emulsion or water/glycol types at temperatures up to 120°C, and resist most lubricating oils, greases, air and water.
Alternative (special) materials are available that considerably extend the range of application in terms of temperature and fluid compatibility.
How supplied
Available in standard materials to suit housings to ISO3320 and ISO7425 pt 1. Seals in non-standard sizes and/or special materials are manufactured to order.
