Nitrile NBR

Nitrile - acrylonitrile-butadiene (NBR)
Nitrile rubber is the most widely used industrial elastomer. Compounds with higher acrylonitrile content generally have better hydrocarbon resistance, whereas low acrylonitrile content gives better low temperature flexibility.

Chemical compatibility
Grades are ideal for service with all types of oils - mineral, silicone,
vegetable, animal and synthetic - as well as many hydrocarbon fuels, and mineral-based or water/glycol-based hydraulic fluids.

Typical operating temperatures
-30°C to +120°C continuous, or +150°C intermittent. Grades are available for duties down to -46°C.

Fluid sealing duties
Nitriles are good general purpose, oil resistant materials. The fact that they are less expensive than more complex high performance elastomers ensures their continuing popularity for sealing applications across all industrial sectors. But they have limited weathering resistance.

James Walker standard grades
Supplied in hardnesses of 40-90 IRHD. We have a wide range of compounds based on various acrylonitrile-butadiene ratios.

Our PB range is suitable for duties with mineral oils - particularly hydraulic fluids - as well as water and some solvents. Our Proteus range is generally suitable for food processing applications, but please consult our Technical Services Team for specific applications advice.

'O' ring stocked grade
PB80.
