Description
Solosele® G is a compact rod/gland seal and single-acting piston seal that saves space without compromising its high integrity sealing capabilities.
It features a profiled elastomeric sealing element that is firmly protected by an integral anti-extrusion element of rubber-proofed fabric.
The elastomeric element provides a low-pressure seal by means of radial squeeze, and is pressure responsive for maintaining sealing force at very high pressures - even when there is significant rod misalignment. The tough integral fabric/rubber base resists extrusion whilst being sufficiently flexible to allow recess fitting in the majority of cases.

- Available as 'odd-legged' design to prevent excessive axial movement within the housing. This prevents pumping of fluid under the seal lip on low-pressure rod retraction.
Typical applications
Rod seal for hydraulic cylinders; ram seal for hydraulic presses; single-acting piston seal (two seals can be used for double-acting duties, but care must be taken to relieve any potential internal pressure build up). Suitable for slow semi-rotary applications including rotary swivels and distributors. Also used on hydroelectric equipment such as turbine root blades, guide vanes, servo motors, etc. Can operate as a static seal offering the benefits of an 'O' ring with integral anti-extrusion capability.
Operating capabilities
- Maximum operating pressure: 420bar.
- Temperature range with standard materials: -20°C to +120°C.
- Temperature limits with special materials: down to -45°C (low nitrile); or up to +200°C (fluoroelastomer).

Materials of construction
Elastomeric sealing element (standard material): medium nitrile NBR.
Elastomeric sealing element (special materials): low nitrile NBR, or fluoroelastomer FKM.
Anti-extrusion element (standard material): cotton fabric proofed with blend of synthetic rubbers.

Media capabilities
Our standard materials are suitable for use with most mineral based hydraulic fluids, most fire-resistant fluids of the water/oil emulsion or water/glycol types at temperatures up to 120°C, and resist most lubricating oils, greases, air and water.
Alternative (special) materials are available that considerably extend the range of application in terms of temperature and fluid compatibility.
How supplied
Available as standard to suit piston head and rod housings to ISO5597 and ISO6020-2, with numerous other moulds available for non-standard sizes between 3mm ID and 2300mm OD with conventional moulding techniques. Also standard inch sizes from 0.125-inch ID to 90-inch OD, with larger diameter endless seals available to special order up to almost any diameter by moulding and vulcanised joining of two or more smaller seals. Other sizes manufactured to order from new permanent moulds - where tooling charges will apply.
Although Solosele® G is supplied as standard in endless-form for optimum sealing performance, split-type seals can be provided on request for certain reciprocating and static applications.
