Pressure containment is a key area where the application of Rotabolt control is invaluable, particularly when liquids, gases or nuclear products have to be processed, stored and transported under pressure.
The bolted joint is crucial in activating the seal or gasket. If the bolts are not installed to the correct design tension the result will be joint failure and leaks.
Rotabolts were used throughout the plant on a number of pressure vessels, reactors and heat exchangers. They were also used on all high integrity 150 and 300 lb pipeline flanges. The fasteners compressed and seated a wide range of gaskets including spiral wound, kammprofile and special ring type joints.
