Success in Brazil brings ‘Global UK Trader’ award for James Walker
James Walker is one of just 18 British companies that has been recognised by the Department for International Trade for their success in doing business in Brazil.
Since starting up in 2010, James Walker in Brazil has gained considerable success and despite the recent global downturn in the oil and gas industry has continued to make good progress in this sector by supporting both local companies and key global businesses working in the territory. This success has now been recognised by the Department for International Trade in association with the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce by the inclusion of James Walker within a list of 18 UK companies who have been identified as driving British success in trade with Brazil.
The award was received on behalf of James Walker by Group Finance Director David Jackson at a reception for 250 top business leaders from the UK and Brazil as well as Government trade officials. The event, hosted at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, highlighted the wide range of British products and services that are being sold into Brazil, with the British and Brazilian Ambassadors presenting the award of ‘Global UK Trader’ to the companies chosen as top UK exporters to the country.
Commenting on the award, James Walker Group Chairman Peter Needham said; "Our success in Brazil has its base in the hard work we put in to planning the venture and the assistance we received at that stage from the Department for International Trade in identifying key areas for business and how to best access them. Our team in Brazil has then done an outstanding job of putting those plans into action and our business continues to grow as we expand into new industrial markets within the region."
