With state-of-the-art skills in materials technology, particularly relating to elastomers, polymers, composites and engineering plastics plus extensive expertise in precision machining of exotic alloys for metallic seals, and tension control fasteners for bolted joints. The Position
James Walker Devol are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineering Supervisor, the successful candidate will report directly to the Quality Manager. This role would be ideally suited to someone with first level management / supervisory experience. There is scope for the right candidate to progress to a more senior level of management in time.


Key responsibilities

  • Supervise, plan and coordinate the team of Quality Inspectors and their activities, and cover duties when required.
  • Responsible for HSE activities within the department.
  • Responsible for the planning and delivery of training, skills development and performance management methods for Quality Inspectors
  • Manage the Product Nonconformity system including Concessions and Nonconforming Product, and report accordingly.
  • Manage the Calibration system and co-ordinate calibration as per internal procedures
  • Manage the implementation and effective deployment of any new measurement technology e.g. optical, CMM, contracer, Surftest, etc.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the Production and Planning peer group in order to help ensure the efficiency of daily business activities.
  • Review of specifications and enquiries as required to ensure all relevant quality control requirements are captured.
  • Manage any part approval activities including FAIR and PPAP, and prepare documentation as per customer and business requirements.
  • Support the effective implementation and maintenance of the QMS, assisting with process and management reviews, change management, audit planning, NC management.
  • Conduct internal audits as required.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of HNC in a relevant engineering discipline
  • IT literate with experience in ERP systems, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat
  • Previous experience in leading and organizing departmental activities in a manufacturing business environment
  • Relevant training in Quality (on job / External)
  • Experience of QMS activities including NC Management, Calibration, Customer Focus, Contract reviews.
