The Position

We are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Stores Person working the day shift on a permanent contract. This role will be within the Engineering Team based at the Cockermouth Manufacturing Business Unit in Cumbria.

The hours of work are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08.00 am – 4.00 pm and Friday 08.00 am – 1.00 pm. The salary is £27,817.88 per annum.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for the efficient control, storage and distribution of engineering materials, spare parts and consumables to support maintenance and operational activities.
  • Ensuring that stock is recorded accurately with strong inventory management whilst maintaining a safe, organised and compliant stores environment.
  • Conducting daily cycle counts and stock checks whilst investigating and resolving stock discrepancies.
  • Checking incoming materials for damage, discrepancies or quality issues and issue materials and spares accurately.
  • Ensuring safe storage and handling of materials and maintaining housekeeping standards.
  • Supporting maintenance teams by ensuring timely availability of parts.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above in Maths and English.
  • Experience in a stores, warehouse or inventory environment using a stock control system.
  • Experience of maintaining stock accuracy and inventory control in a store or warehouse.
  • Good communication skills and ability to build working relationships with other functions.
  • A pro-active approach to work and getting things done.
  • Basic IT skills (ERP systems, Excel).
  • A fork lift truck licence would be an advantage for this role or a willingness to work towards this.
