The Position

We are currently looking to recruit a Planner on a fixed term contract for 18 months. This role will be within the Planning department based at the Cockermouth Manufacturing Business Unit in Cockermouth, Cumbria.

The hours of work are 35 hours per week. The salary is £23,939.88 per annum.

Key responsibilities

  • Converting sales order or forecast demand into supply via the release of Works Orders from material planner workbench, printing and distributing to the shopfloor.
  • Advising internal customers of any delays with the planning of orders, including component ordering and tool procurement.
  • Working closely with the Operations to effectively update and execute the daily and weekly plan/work schedule of activities ensuring delivery on time to internal and external customers.
  • Preparing appropriate documentation, e.g. KPI’S, overdue reports and ensuring these are regularly updated and communicated across the units and feedback delays to sales companies.
  • Identifying and proposing solutions to unplanned situations which can affect the schedule and to ensure these are promptly addressed.
  • To analyze trends and patterns in the production schedule and to identify potential bottlenecks/risks, the impact of large volume orders, and effective utilization of spare capacity.
  • To attend regular unit performance meetings and follow through designated actions to completion.
  • To seek ways of improving customer satisfaction levels from an operational supply chain perspective.

About You

Experience/ Qualifications

  • Experience of working within a Planning, Customer Service or office environment being proactive in meeting customer expectations and delivering results.
  • GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
  • An NVQ in Customer Service, Business Administration or a Planning related qualification would be preferred but is not essential.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent team working skills, with the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Sound IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Packages such as Word, Excel, Oracle or other planning systems.
