With state-of-the-art skills in materials technology, particularly relating to elastomers, polymers, composites and engineering plastics plus extensive expertise in precision machining of exotic alloys for metallic seals, and tension control fasteners for bolted joints. Our worldwide group of companies has 11 operations and a further 40 spread across Continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, SE Asia, South Africa and the USA.

The Position

James Walker and Co Ltd are looking to recruit a Test Technician based at the Cockermouth Manufacturing Site within the Product Test Team

Key responsibilities :

  • Use bespoke test equipment to conduct testing on new and innovative sealing products and solutions.
  • Accurate recording and interpretation of test data to produce documentation and reports.
  • Investigating seal failures and successes, providing feedback to colleagues and stakeholders as part of the research and development process.
  • Liaising and updating relevant stakeholders on projects that you are a team member of.
  • Assist others in the Test Team to perform preventative maintenance and calibration activities, ensuring the area operates efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
  • Assist the senior members of the Team to ensure all deadlines are met and activities are completed in an expedient manner.
  • Ensure the test area and equipment is kept tidy, maintained and to a high standard at all times.
  • To contribute and implement continuous improvement ideas, striving to “be the best”.
  • Assisting the wider Technical group in their duties, particularly during fluctuations in workload.
  • Understand and comply with the relevant Health and Safety regulations in place.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Achieved or be working towards an engineering related qualification such as a HNC or HND.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Previous experience of CAD, particularly Autodesk Inventor, preferred but not essential.
