In the real world, such perfection is very expensive to achieve and almost impossible to maintain. Therefore a gasket is the most practical and cost effective way to seal a bolted flange joint.
The problem for designers and maintenance engineers is to select the correct gaskets to ensure the integrity and safe operation of their fluid handling plant.
A range of highly proven non-asbestos rubber-bonded gasket materials made from aramid fibres and special fillers.
These sheet materials can be cut to any size or shape that covers flange gasket duties with most fluid media from ASME Class 150 to Class 600 ratings, plus some special applications.
We in-house process and/or supply wide ranges of commercial and specification grade elastomers for flange sealing and other duties.
Supagraf® expanded graphite jointings combine excellent chemical resistance with an exceptionally wide temperature range to provide outstanding sealing over extended periods.
• Temperatures from cryogenic to above +400°C in oxiding environments.
• Maximum temperature of +2500°C in inert conditions under certain circumstances.
• Excellent resistance to stress relaxation at elevated temperatures.
Isolation gaskets are challenged to fulfil both sealing and isolating roles at a wide range of pressures and temperatures.
However, by successfully optimising each component of its InsoLion® gaskets,James Walker has produced a range to cover the widest possible performance envelope.
