Strategic Planner

The Position
This Strategic Planner role is based at James Walker & Co. Ltd, Cockermouth, Cumberland the largest manufacturing site in the James Walker Group which has been in operation on the site for over 50 years and employs over 400 people. This business unit typically operates a high variety, low volume, bespoke manufacturing operation across a 3-shift operation. The site supplies advanced engineering elastomers for critical applications in Oil & Gas, Energy/Power, Marine, Nuclear, Defense, Pharmaceutical, Power Generation and Aerospace industries through its vertically integrated capabilities which include product development and design, tool making, compounding, extrusion, molding, testing and global distribution.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead planning strategy at the Cockermouth site and develop, implement and improve the utilisation of ERP and APS planning systems within the business to deliver continuous improvement to internal and external customer service levels in line with the Group Vision.
  • Work closely with local and group procurement, manufacturing and planning teams to ensure plans can be executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and coach the site and SBU planning teams to raise skill levels to allow the ERP and APS planning systems use to be optimised to ensure short term plans are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Ce a major contributor to the Sales and Operational planning process working with Product Management, James Walker Sales Companies, Procurement and Operations to proactively react to changes in demand and supply.
  • Proactively support compliance to HSE and Quality Systems and their development.

Experience and Qualifications

• Experience in working in cross functional and Multi site teams
• Experience in supply chain planning in ERP systems
• Management of multiple projects
• Experience in APS planning
• Preferred, APICS or other operational planning accreditation
